November 2019 Newsletter
Seems hard to believe that November marks the last month of Spring. Wasn't it only yesterday we were celebrating the end of Winter? Time really does go fast these days, not like when I was a child and it seemed to take forever for Christmas to come. Now it seems like in just blink of the eye on Boxing Day, it's Easter, then Exhibition Wednesday, followed by Melbourne Cup and there you have it ... it's Christmas again! Speaking of Christmas, we do hope you've been enjoying our Christmas Countdown blogs over the past few weeks. To keep up to date with the series please follow us on Facebook (@ethicallifeau) and Instagram (ethical_life_au).
Our recipe this month comes from Peru! We went to the Good Food and Wine Show in Brisbane last weekend and saw these two chefs from A Chef's Pocket in Byron Bay, New South Wales. Boy, did they cook up a storm! It was a simple dish called Lomo Saltado - primarily just meat, tomato, onion, some amazing flaming of the meat, and there you have it one of the most morish, tastiest dishes we've ever tasted. Now we haven't been able to secure their recipe as yet but we did find one to share with you this month. We gave it a go on Monday night and while there was no flaming of beef if our kitchen that night, the dish was absolutely beautiful and will be one we keep cooking over and over again. Here's Tasty's version of Lomo Saltado. Give it a try - we'd love to hear what you think about it.
Loving the beautiful colours of these Peruvian towels. Definitely getting in the mood for this beautiful meal.

TWELVE YEARS A SLAVE: This movie was promoted by Be Slave Free (formerly Stop the Traffic Australia) as a must watch! It's based on the true story of an African-American man who was kidnapped and sold to be a slave. It's a period piece, set in pre-Civil War America. One of the reviews we read about this movie said "it's far from comfortable viewing, but 12 Years a Slave's unflinchingly brutal look at American slavery is also brilliant - and quite possibly essential - cinema (Rotten Tomatoes). In 2013, the movie won 3 Academy Awards - Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Supporting Actress. We'll definitely be watching this film this month. It's available on Google Play and YouTube for $3.99.
Well, we hope that you have a wonderful November doing all the things you love. We look forward to catching up with you all next month in the lead-up to Christmas 2019!
